Indianapolis, Ind.--Today, Joe Donnelly, candidate for U.S. Senate, released the following statement regarding the ongoing debate about the Bush-era tax rates that expire at the end of this year.
“Over the past two months, we have seen two concerning jobs reports. Given our continued economic challenges, now is the time to keep tax rates low. The last thing our economy can afford is more uncertainty as the fiscal cliff approaches. That's why I support a one year extension of all of the tax rates. We need to create jobs, we need to help the middle class and support small businesses, and we need to avoid partisan bickering and delay. There are many things for Democrats and Republicans to work together on--creating jobs, extending low tax rates during this difficult economic time, addressing our long-term budget and debt challenges and much, much more. Unlike Richard Mourdock, who wants more--not less--partisan bickering, I think it's time to put party aside and get things done.”
